Frequently asked questions

Most AST orders ship within 1 to 3 business days, and busy weeks and holidays can add a little time. Items from our partner brands ship separately, straight from the brand. Once your package is on its way, delivery time depends on where you live and the carrier.

Look for your shipping confirmation email, which has the tracking number. Tracking usually starts updating within 24 hours of shipping. If your order comes in more than one package, for example because it includes partner items, each package gets its own tracking number.

If it hasn't shipped yet, we'll try. Email contact@adultsskatetoo.com as soon as you can with your order number and what needs to change. We pack orders quickly, so we can't promise to catch every one in time, and we can't refund a package delivered to an address that was entered wrong at checkout.

AST orders of $40 or more ship free within the US. Shipping for smaller orders and for international orders is calculated at checkout. Items from our partner brands ship separately and aren't part of the free shipping offer. Tees and hoodies marked printed to order ship separately from our printer with their own shipping at checkout, so they don't count toward the $40 either.

They're made just for you after you order, so they usually leave our printer within 2 to 5 business days, and US delivery takes a few more days after that. They ship separately from the rest of your order, with their own tracking number. Anything else in the same order, like stickers or a tote, still ships from us within 1 to 3 business days.

Anywhere in the US, including P.O. boxes, US territories and APO, FPO and DPO addresses, and worldwide. You'll see the shipping options for your address at checkout. International orders can take longer, since customs, weather and carrier delays are out of our hands.

You might, depending on your country. Customs duties, import taxes and any fees from your local customs office are the buyer's responsibility. If an international package is refused or sent back because those fees weren't paid, we can't refund or credit it.

Check your tracking first, then email us with your order number so we can help. Packages lost or damaged in transit are a claim with the carrier, so if something arrives damaged, contact them and keep all the packaging and items. Our shipping policy has the details.

Yes, eligible items can be exchanged or returned for store credit within 14 days of delivery, as long as they're unworn, unwashed and in their original condition. If what you'd like instead is sold out, we'll give you store credit. We don't refund to the original payment method. Our refund policy has the full details.

Email contact@adultsskatetoo.com within 14 days of delivery with your order number and what you'd like instead. Return shipping is up to you, and if you'd like a prepaid label we can send one, with its cost taken off your store credit or exchange.

Heat transfers, AST Premium Zip Up Jackets, OneOfOne pieces, the Liquidation Sale, Pre-Loved skating gear and anything in our Sale collection are final sale, so they can't be returned or exchanged. Once a heat transfer has been applied or attempted we can't credit it either, even if it didn't turn out, because the result depends on heat, pressure, fabric and technique. Tees and hoodies printed to order are final sale too, because they're made just for you. If one arrives misprinted or damaged, email us a photo within 14 days of delivery and we'll replace it. If you're unsure about anything, email us before you order or press.

Our stickers are designed by adult skaters and printed in-house on kiss-cut vinyl. They're water and weather resistant, so they hold up on water bottles, skate bags and laptops. Most are about 2 to 3 inches across.

Pick 3, 5 or 10 stickers in our bundle builder and the discount adds itself: 18% off three, 25% off five and 32% off ten. There's no code to remember.

The Rink Side Tote is 10 inches long, 7 inches tall and 6 inches wide, and weighs about 25 oz. It stands up on its own, fits on the rink boards and has inner pockets for guards, gloves, soakers, your phone and snacks.

It's made of vegan (polyurethane) leather, so it wipes clean. Use a damp cloth with a little mild soap for spots, and keep it out of the washing machine.

Just a few pieces, most of them one-of-ones in a single size. One-of-ones are final sale, so email us before you order if you'd like help with fit.

The brands ship them directly. We carry CRS Cross skating gear and Rude Cosmetics makeup in partnership with each brand, so their items ship separately from the rest of your order, with their own tracking. CRS Cross gear usually ships within 3 to 5 business days, and partner shipping is calculated at checkout rather than included in our free US shipping on AST orders.

No, and you'd be in good company. Many rinks run Learn to Skate classes with an adult group, and our guide to starting figure skating as an adult walks you through finding a rink, buying skates and your first lesson.

Warm, stretchy layers you can bend your knees in, like leggings or athletic pants, a fitted long-sleeved top and a light jacket you can take off as you warm up. Always wear gloves, and a helmet is a good idea while you're learning. Our guide to what to wear ice skating has more ideas.

No, rental skates are fine for your first few weeks. Once you know you're sticking with it, get fitted in person, and our fitting guide explains what a good fit feels like. We don't sell skates ourselves.

Start at your local rink. Many run beginner classes for adults, and the skating director can point you to coaches who teach grown-ups. Our first lesson checklist covers what to bring, and our guide to choosing a coach helps when you're ready for private lessons.

Bend your knees, go down sideways onto your hip, tuck your chin and keep your hands in. Practicing a few falls at home before your first lesson takes a lot of the fear out of it, and our guide to falling safely and getting back up walks you through both.

Everyone moves at their own pace, so there's no set timeline. Most of a first month goes on balance, gliding on two feet, swizzles, a first stop and learning to fall, and sore ankles and the odd frustrating day are normal. Our guide to your first 30 days is a rough map of what to expect.

Public sessions are open to everyone and usually cost the least, but they're busy and many rinks don't allow jumps or spins on them. Freestyle sessions are for figure skaters practicing jumps, spins and programs, and some rinks also run adult-only ice. Our guide to ice time and sessions explains how to read a rink schedule.

When your edges start to slip and your stops lose their bite, rather than on a set schedule. How often that happens depends on how much you skate and how you look after your blades, and new blades usually need sharpening before their first skate. Our sharpening guide covers the signs.

Yes. Adults Skate Too started in 2018 as an Instagram account for adult skaters, and these days it's a small, skater-owned side project run by Erika Venza. She writes our free guides for adult skaters, and the shop is still open for stickers, totes and gear from our partner brands.
