Our Commitment
We want everyone to be able to use Adults Skate Too, from shopping for stickers to reading a guide the night before a lesson. That includes skaters who use a screen reader, get around the site with a keyboard, zoom in on their phone or turn off motion in their settings. This page explains the standard we work to, what we've done so far and what we know still falls short. If something here gets in your way, please tell us, because we'd much rather fix it than have you give up on a page.
Where We Stand
We use the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA as our standard. They're published by the W3C, and 2.2 is the version this site was built and checked against. Right now the site is partially conformant with WCAG 2.2 Level AA, which means some parts of it don't fully meet the standard yet, and the ones we know about are listed further down this page. The checks behind this statement are our own, and no outside company has audited the site.
What We've Done
In October 2026 we tested the site against WCAG 2.2 AA and fixed what we found on the main kinds of pages, including product pages, collections, guides, the cart, the menus, the FAQs and the contact form. Text is set dark enough to read against whatever sits behind it, photos included, and icons and the marks that show what you've picked (like the ring around a chosen colour) are dark enough to see too. Every link, button and form field shows a violet outline when you reach it with the keyboard, the menus open with Enter, and the phone menu and the cart close with Escape. On phones, everything you tap is at least 24 pixels across, and pages fit a narrow screen without scrolling sideways.
Photos have alt text, so a screen reader can tell you what's in them, and a photo that sits right beside its own title is left silent so you don't hear the same words twice. If you've turned on reduced motion in your device settings, the site's own slides and animations stay still, and the announcement bar at the top pauses while your pointer or keyboard is on it. We run automated accessibility checks after changes to the site, and the most recent one, on October 26, 2026, went through 44 page views at phone and desktop widths and found no problems. Automated tools only catch part of what matters, so we also go through pages with the keyboard alone.
What Still Falls Short
The announcement bar changes its message every few seconds, and on our page-not-found page a little skater slides across the ice. Neither one has a pause button, which falls short of the WCAG rule on moving content. The announcement bar stops while you hover over it or tab to it, and both stay still when reduced motion is on.
Reviews on the site come from Okendo, and we can't change their code. When we checked on October 13, 2026, the buttons that show more about a reviewer didn't show a keyboard outline, the homepage reviews slider kept slides that were out of view in the keyboard order, and a reviewer's initials over a photo were hard to read. Those stay as they are until Okendo changes them.
Checkout and account sign-in are run by Shopify, and we haven't tested them ourselves. On pages with a form, Shopify also adds a small hCaptcha badge whose two links can take keyboard focus while the badge is tucked out of sight.
Our printables are PDF files (the phone wallpapers are images), and we haven't checked any of them for accessibility yet. We also haven't checked the videos on the site, such as the one on the tote page, for captions or audio description. If a printable or a video doesn't work for you, email us and we'll find another way to get you what's in it.
So far we've tested in a Chromium browser (the engine behind Chrome and Edge) at desktop and phone sizes. We haven't tested in Safari or Firefox, on a real phone, or with a screen reader such as VoiceOver or NVDA, and we haven't checked how pages hold up when you change the spacing of the text.
Tell Us What Isn't Working
If you run into a problem anywhere on the site, email contact@adultsskatetoo.com or use the form on our Contact page. Erika reads every message herself and replies by email, usually within 24 to 48 hours. It helps to tell us the page, what you were trying to do and the device or tool you use, but send whatever you have and we'll take it from there.
You can ask for anything on the site in another format the same way. If a guide, a printable or a product description would work better for you as plain text, in larger print or as text in an email, tell us what you need and we'll do our best to make it.
About This Statement
We wrote this statement on October 27, 2026, and the last automated check of the site was on October 26, 2026. We review it whenever the site changes in a way that affects accessibility, so the list above stays honest. Our approach is to build and check the site against WCAG 2.2 Level AA, using automated tests, keyboard checks and contrast measurements. The shop runs on Shopify, so we fix what's in our own theme, and the checkout, the platform underneath and the apps we use are Shopify's and their makers' to fix.
